Remover - Recoat System - Hardwood Floor Care
Part of the Bona Recoat System™, Bona Remover® is formulated to break down contaminants known to cause finish adhesion issues, such as acrylic polishes, waxes, oil soaps, over-spray from furniture cleaners/dusters, and any other contaminants on a polyurethane finished wood floor or a pre-finished wood floor. Bona Remover® also aides in abrading the wood floor to maximize adhesion of Bona Traffic®.
- GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified®.
HOW TO USE IT
Prior to application, protect surrounding areas using blue tape and/or plastic sheeting or trowels to prevent possible staining from accidental contact with Bona Remover®. In the event of a spill, immediately wipe up affected area using a clean towel and water. It is recommended use for all types of residential and commercial polyurethane finished wood floors. Can be applied with Bona® Roller.
Application: 1. Pour a 4” wide line of Bona Remover® along starting wall. 2. Saturate the roller with product from the pour line. Set roller down at back side of puddle and pull the roller towards you approximately 4-5 feet. Then push back in the same path beyond your original start point. BE SURE YOU ARE USING THE RECOMMENDED COVERAGE OF 400 – 500 SQ. FT. PER GALLON. DO NOT SPREAD TOO THIN. DO NOT COVER MORE FLOOR THAN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ABRADE AND RINSE IN 20-30 MINUTES (APROXIMATELY 200 SQ FT). 3. Using a 175rpm rotary buffer, equipped with the Bona recoat abrasive drive plate (make sure to replace every 5000 to 7000 square feet of use), abrade the section of floor coated with Bona Remover®. Abrade with the grain up and back over the same path. Start the next pass by overlapping the previous pass by 50%. 4. Hand-abrade any corners and sections missed by the buffer with 120 grit paper. 5. Using a window squeegee, squeegee Bona Remover® material out from the wall. 6. Using the Bona PowerScrubber™ filled with Bona Rinse® (refer to Bona Rinse® directions for mixing instructions), remove and clean all Bona Remover® from floor. 7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 until entire floor has been treated. 8. TO GUARANTEE ALL CONTAMINATES HAVE BEEN REMOVED AND MEET THE BONA RECOAT SYSTEM™ WARRANTY, IT IS REQUIRED THAT THE ENTIRE FLOOR BE PREPARED A SECOND TIME FOLLOWING STEPS 1 – 7 (DURING SECOND PASS IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO HAND ABRADE). 9. Using a clean terry towel or microfiber cloth and warm water, wipe down the perimeter of the floor, approximately 1” out from the wall where the Bona PowerScrubber™ could reach. It may also be necessary to wipe down all the baseboards and any other areas Bona Remover® has come in contact with. 10. Relocate buffer, Bona recoat abrasive drive plate, applicators and all other equipment besides the Bona PowerScrubber™ from the floor. Thoroughly clean with water the Bona PowerScrubber™ brushes, squeegees, power cord and your shoes/work boots of any remaining Bona Remover®. Perform a final “Rinse” step on the entire floor using the Bona PowerScrubber™ and Bona Rinse®. This step will help ensure the floor is clean of any Bona Remover® due to foot prints or missed areas during the initial rinse steps. 11. Wet tack the entire floor with water. Prior to finish application feel floor with hand, if floor feels gritty or rough in areas, you have not removed all the Bona Remover®. Repeat steps 9 & 10. 12. Allow floor to dry and following label instructions apply one coast of Bona Traffic® or Bona Traffic HD™. IF A SECOND COAT OF BONA TRAFFIC® IS NEEDED, INTER-COAT ABRASION IS NOT REQUIRED UNLESS 48 HOURS OR MORE HAVE PAST. IF INTER-COAT ABRASION IS NEEDED, ABRADE WITH A 320 GRIT MAROON PAD ONLY. THE BONA RECOAT PROCESS TEMPORARILY WEAKENS THE FINISH SYSTEM AND AGGRESSIVE ABRASION COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO TOTAL FINISH SYSTEM.
Mixing Instructions: Shake product vigorously for 15-20 seconds or until all settled product is thoroughly mixed.
Caution: Prior to using the Bona Recoat System™ on hand scraped or distressed flooring, it is necessary to test the integrity of the existing finish. In an inconspicuous area, hand abrade a small section of flooring using a 220 grit screen or equivalent. If the abrasion completely removes the finish from high points, exposing raw wood and/or removing color, then DO NOT PROCEED WITH THE BONA RECOAT SYSTEM™.
Clean Up: Clean all tools and equipment with warm water.
